CMR Barn Cams

Why is This Page Reloading?
    - Auto Refresh makes viewing CMR Barn Cams easy

Since streaming video was not an option for us, we opted to have our Barn Cams upload a picture every 15 - 60 seconds (more often if a doe is kidding). To save you the hassle of having to refresh your page every continually, we have implemented some code that auto-refreshes your page for you. It's not spy-ware, and you don't have to download anything, so it's completely safe to you.

We have tested this feature in Internet Explorer version 6, as well as Mozilla FireFox version 1. It has not yet been tested with Netscape. If you are using one of these browsers, and are having an issue with auto refresh, please e-mail Travis@TravisWertz.com.

There was an issue loading this image. Please refresh your screen.
    - Is The Camera Broken?

You will usually see this message if you have opened the Barn Cam page when a camera was uploading a picture. The quickest way to fix it is to press the Refresh button at the top of your browser.

If you still get this message after 2-3 refreshes, make sure the camera isn't off (there will be a note under the images). If there's no note, please e-mail Travis@TravisWertz.com with your Operating System and Browser.

Are You Kidding?
    - What happens when babies come at CMR

During kidding we will only have the birthing camera running. To try and let everyone watch, the picture will be doubled (640 x 480 pixels), running at the highest quality the camera can handle.

CMR Barn Cam Technology
    - The Short Version

Before we had our barn, we could use the wired-type camera. But since we've gotten the barn, to get a video camera into our birthing spaces, we needed a wireless solution. We tried a security system that hooked into the TV and had great low-light visibility. When we put it in the barn though, our wireless network interfered with the signal, so we had no picture.

Then we found the Hawkings HNC320. It's a 802.11b wireless camera that installs into your regular network. We picked up the pair of ours for $142.05 each at CompUSA. After assigning each of them their own IP address, and port number, we mounted them in the rafters of our barn, pointing at each of the birthing stalls.
